25/09/2009: Market update - EXPP 2009. Doxylon in Amsterdam.

Gathering about 350 people from more than 20 different countries, Bruno Koch (Billentis) has made EXPP the place to be for people engaged in electronic invoicing, e-commerce and improvement of intercompany business processes.

Market data

Authority initiatives
EU and several public authorities are pushing for electronic invoicing. EU has a comprehensive task force on the issue dealing with local legislation but also trying to help standardization of formats and handling. EU has put an Expert group to work and this group will deliver a report by the end of this year. Current conclusions were presented at EXPP.

Discussion on XML Formats
The EU expert group seems to conclude on supporting/recommending the XML-format referred to as "CII" (UN/CEFACT Cross Industry Electronic Invoice). There were questions asked about how this would have impact on the PEPPOL project (se below) and other public initiatives supporting the XML-format referred to as "NESUBL". The answer from the expert group was that if EU opted for CII, then PEPPOL and other related projects would also support CII.

PEPPOL - Pan-European Public Procurement Online
The PEPPOL-project was well presented and also referred to as an important project by many speakers. The PEPPOL project is coordinating government initiatives related to electronic procurement and invoicing in European countries. This makes Peppol the biggest coordinated roll-out of e-procurement solutions worldwide. PEPPOL is describing formats and ways to handle electronic commerce and electronic invoicing towards the public sector. If your business complies with PEPPOL requirements, you comply with both EU itself and PEPPOL-members requirements for handling e-commerce and electronic invoicing.

EXPP impact on carryDOX
Doxylon attend arrangements like EXPP to ensure that the software we provide is compliant with different regulations, formats, signatures and different routines for handling electronic invoices and other documents.

At EXPP 2009 we found new and interesting information about legislation/ regulations, formats, signatures and international ways of practice regarding the handling of electronic invoices and e-commerce.

We have initiated a project to make standard configurations available for carryDOX users to connect to buyers that follow PEPPOL-specifications. This will make it very easy for you as a carryDOX user to send electronic invoices to all the public buyers that adopt PEPPOL specifications (public services of different countries and the European Commission). We are also making configurations for you to easily connect for automatic and safe invoice exchange with the banking network or other leading international or local service providers.

EXPP Munich 2010
